On behalf of the Hyderabad AWS User Group community (AWSUGHYD), a big thank you to everyone who attended the event and participation in the live chat. As a community, our goal has always been to help others who are new to AWS to get to understand the platform and it’s services better while at the same time, gain deeper insights into best practices and methodologies for those who are already actively working on AWS. We do this by conducting meetups in Hyderabad on different topics every month as well as larger events like this re:Cap session.

AWS re:Invent is an annual conference that showcases new services and features that AWS has been working on over the past year to make the AWS platform more feature rich, cost efficient and productive to use. During the re:Invent conference, it has become a common sight to see AWS announce well over 250+ updates over a 2-3 day time period. For the average person working a regular day job, this becomes incredibly difficult to keep up with. The event ‘re:Invent re:Cap’ was designed specifically to put these updates in perspective and help the common AWS user by picking the most important updates and help understand how it can improve their daily use of AWS.

Unlike last year where the re:Cap was a conducted at the Amazon Building in Hyderabad which you can read about here, this year we had a virtual session and despite it being a lazy Sunday, saw well over 100 participants!

We had 4 speakers for the event. Myself Faizal Khan, Founder & CEO at EICIT. I was scheduled to talk on Compute, Storage, Security, IoT, Infrastructure & Deployment at the edge updates. Saurabh Bhattacharya from AWS gave us updates on Containers, Serverless, Application Integration, Observability, Mobile, Management & Governance. Then there was John Solomon, a consultant from AWS Professional Services who presented the Database updates. Shailesh Mishra from AWS gave us updates on Data Analysis along with AI & ML. Needless to say, also Kapil Dutta, Founder at Coderplex for co-organizing this event.

Below is the recording of the YouTube live stream.
